Search engineThere are so many vacancies online that it becomes difficult to make them stand out. But with a few minor changes to the vacancy text, Google (and other search engines) will show your vacancy faster and higher in the search results.

In this article you will read how to make your vacancy SEO-friendly, or in other words: how you ensure that search engines place your outstanding job higher than other vacancies.

1. Go for a promotional introduction

Make clear in the first few sentences what the vacancy is about. Seduce the potential candidate to read further, make him enthusiastic! Do not be afraid to use the word 'vacancy', many people look for it here! If necessary, make the intro italic or Fat so that it stands out. If people read through (and stay longer on your page) this has a positive influence on the ranking (the position in search results).

2. Use keywords in the text

Consider through which words you want to be found and process them in your text. Do not overdo it here but make sure that the text remains natural and readable. Do not use the same keyword every time, but also think about synonyms.

How do you find good keywords?

The best keyword tool is the Google Keyword Planner, but there are also enough alternatives to find. Of course you can also enter your keywords on Google, you will receive direct suggestions and at the bottom of the page you will find related searches, here you can get inspiration for new keywords.

3. Structure your vacancy structure with intermediate headers

Headers, or headings, make your text clear to the reader, but are also good for search engines. Just as a book contains chapters, paragraphs and sub-paragraphs, a web page - in this case your vacancy - should also have such a structure.

Heading 1 (H1) is usually your title and is often generated automatically. In the text itself you can use subheads, this is Heading 2 (H2), for additional subdivisions use Heading 3 (H3). Keywords can be useful in these headlines, but do not overdo it. You can, for example, use 'Your tasks as Digital Marketer' instead of 'job description'.

How do you add headings?

Often a website is created in a CMS (Content Management System) such as WordPress or Drupal. Most systems have a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor that you can use to format your text. You will also find the headings here.

You also have this possibility within Joboxx. As soon as you click on the magic wand you can choose the Headers yourself.

4. Select enumerations

Enumerations are quick to scan for the reader, but that also applies to search engines. Enumerations promote your ranking, especially if you also include important keywords here. So use this for example in the list of job requirements or in the reasons why someone should work for you.

Are all enumerations good?

Preferably use bullets or number enumerations from the WYSIWYG editor. Making a list by using '-' on each line does not make any sense here.

At Joboxx you can easily create lists by clicking on one of the two icons:

5. Use enough words

Make sure your text is not too short. Try to use at least 300 words so that your story is clear and search engines know who your content is relevant to. But of course do not exaggerate, sometimes there is simply no more to tell about the vacancy and then you should not make it longer than necessary.

6. Consider digital campaigns

Have you followed all of the above advice, but still do not have the range you are dreaming of? Then consider going for digital marketing campaigns.

When you google job openings, there are often only job boards on the first page. With a digital marketing campaign, thanks to advertisements you can ensure that you are higher and therefore more noticeable.

With these campaigns you can very specifically promote your vacancy on the favorite websites and social media of your ideal candidate. Do you not have this knowledge yourself? No problem! Joboxx can set up and manage the digital marketing campaigns for your vacancy. Thanks to our AI we can immediately see on which platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google, etc.) your vacancy would perform best. All you have to do is create your vacancy and you can immediately request a quote.

Optimize your vacancy yourself!

Now it is up to you to make your vacancy attractive for both people and (search) machines! We list all the tips again:

  • Seduce the reader to read further with the intro of your vacancy.
  • Use keywords and synonyms, but make sure the text stays natural.
  • Give structure to your vacancy by means of intermediate heads.
  • Add enumerations so that they can be scanned quickly.
  • The vacancy text may be slightly longer, give as good a picture as possible of the job and who you are looking for.
  • Lastly, consider increasing your reach with digital marketing campaigns so that your vacancy is shown to the right target group.
